Unstoppable Through Him-Fierce and Faithful 1

"And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey...." (ESV)

Exodus 3:8

He Comes Down to Help

“And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey….” (ESV)

Usually we don’t want to hear the words, “Don’t make me come down there,” especially by an angry father hearing his unruly kids downstairs creating havoc. But in this case, we do want to hear our Father’s voice saying, “I’m coming down there,” especially when we are in trouble and need help ASAP.

What This Teaches Us

This verse reveals God’s heart to intervene personally in our lives: God is willing to come down into our lives and intercede. He wants to come with all His strength and all His reinforcements. He will take matters into his own hands if we allow Him to. He even wants to come with a plan to lead us out of our troubling situation and into a delightful, bountiful paradise.

How do we know this? God came down and helped the Israelites in the Old Testament, escorting them out of slavery in Egypt and to the Promised Land of milk and honey. In the New Testament, Jesus came down, too. He actually walked around in flesh and blood with a plan to die for our sins so we can get out of a troubling, sinful death and enter a beautiful, eternal paradise.

God has a rescue mission planned for you, too. Follow His lead and allow Him to take you to a better place.

When God says “I have come down,” it’s not a threat—it’s a rescue operation. He doesn’t come down to punish but to deliver. He doesn’t come down to make things worse but to bring you up to something better. He comes with strength, reinforcements, and a detailed plan to lead you from slavery to freedom, from trouble to paradise.

How to Apply This in Daily Life

When you’re in trouble and need help ASAP, cry out to God to come down. Don’t try to handle your slavery or bondage on your own. Ask Him to intercede with all His strength and all His reinforcements. He’s willing to come down into your life if you invite Him.

Allow God to take matters into His own hands. This means surrendering control of your troubling situation to Him. Stop trying to engineer your own escape plan and let Him lead you with His plan. He knows the way from slavery to the Promised Land—you don’t.

Remember that God’s coming down isn’t just about getting you out of trouble—it’s about bringing you up to something better. He doesn’t just want to end your slavery; He wants to bring you to a delightful, bountiful paradise. Trust that His plan includes both deliverance and destination.

Follow Jesus, who came down in the ultimate rescue mission. Just as God came down to Egypt to rescue the Israelites, Jesus came down to earth to rescue you from sin and death. Accept His plan to die for your sins so you can enter eternal paradise. This is the pattern—God comes down to bring you up.

Prayer For Guidance and Strength

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God who comes down to deliver. Thank You that when I cry out for help, You don’t stay distant—You come down into my life with all Your strength and all Your reinforcements. Lord, I’m in a troubling situation right now. [Name your specific slavery or bondage here.] I need You to come down and deliver me ASAP.

I invite You to intercede. Take matters into Your own hands. I’m tired of trying to engineer my own escape plan. I surrender control to You. Lead me out of this troubling situation with Your plan, not mine. You know the way from slavery to the Promised Land—I don’t.

Thank You for Your pattern of rescue throughout history. You came down and helped the Israelites, escorting them out of slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land of milk and honey. You sent Jesus down to walk around in flesh and blood with a plan to die for our sins so we can escape sinful death and enter eternal paradise.

You have a rescue mission planned for me, too. Help me to follow Your lead. Bring me not just out of trouble but up to a delightful, bountiful paradise. I trust that You’re not just ending my slavery—You’re bringing me to something better. Thank You for coming down to deliver me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
