Christ’s Strength for Everything

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Philippians 4:13

The Greek word for “all this” or “all things” is pas. It means all, any, each, everyone, everything. Pretty much ALL things. Whatever you are going through, you can do all you need to do because Christ gives you strength.

What This Teaches Us

This verse reveals a life-changing truth: you don’t have to grow weary—God will carry you through it. You don’t have to grow weak—God can lift you on His shoulders. You can’t do it by yourself. Don’t try. You don’t have the energy, the stamina, or the foresight to make the right choices. Lean on God. Better yet, surrender yourself totally in His arms. He’s got you. He’s got the power.

The word “all” here is comprehensive and absolute. All means all. Whatever you’re facing—any challenge, each obstacle, everyone involved, everything that needs to be done—Christ’s strength is sufficient. This isn’t just about big spiritual victories; it’s about the daily grind, the overwhelming tasks, the impossible situations, and the exhausting demands.

Notice Paul doesn’t say “I can do some things” or “I can do most things.” He says ALL things. And he doesn’t say “I can do all things because I’m strong” but “through him who gives me strength.” The source of ability isn’t Paul—it’s Christ working in and through Paul.

This means your limitations don’t limit what God can do through you. Your weakness doesn’t disqualify you. Your lack of energy, stamina, or wisdom doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish what God has called you to do. Christ’s strength is the game-changer.

How to Apply This in Daily Life

When you feel overwhelmed by what you need to do, remember that you can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength. Not some things—all things. Not in your own power—through Christ’s power. Stop trying to muster up your own strength and instead lean on His.

Don’t try to do it by yourself. You don’t have the energy, stamina, or foresight to make all the right choices. Admit your limitations and turn to Christ for strength. Ask Him to carry you when you’re weary, to lift you when you’re weak, to guide you when you don’t know what to do.

Surrender yourself totally in His arms. This isn’t just asking for help while still trying to control everything—it’s complete surrender. Let God carry the full weight. Stop straining and start resting in His power. He’s got you. He’s got the power.

Apply this to specific situations today. What task seems impossible? What relationship requires more patience than you have? What decision demands wisdom you lack? Name it, and declare over it: “I can do this through Christ who gives me strength.”

Reflection Questions

  • What specific “all things” are you facing right now that feel beyond your strength and ability?
  • Have you been trying to handle these things in your own energy, stamina, and wisdom instead of leaning on Christ’s strength?
  • What would it look like for you to surrender yourself totally in God’s arms instead of just asking for help while still trying to control everything?
  • Do you truly believe that Christ’s strength is sufficient for ALL things you’re facing, or do you think some things are too much even for Him?
